Constance Saizon is a retired full-time local pastor serving at St. Landry United Methodist Church in Gonzales, Louisiana and Hughes United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

A native of Gulfport, MS, she graduated from 33rd Ave. High School, graduated from Xavier University of New Orleans with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Secondary Education and completed the five-year theological Course of Study through Emory University’s Candler School of Theology at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.

Formerly the pastor at Peoples United Methodist Church in New Orleans, she arrived in the Baton Rouge District as a result of Katrina rendering her church building and home unusable and destroying all of her material possessions.

Pastor Saizon is a widow and the mother of two adult daughters, Courtni  (New York) and Kelli (Dallas, TX).

For two years Pastor Saizon toured with a play which raised awareness and spoke out against child abuse.

After Katrina, God heightened Pastor Saizon’s spiritual gift of humor to serve as a coping mechanism.  Out of the disaster came a Christian comedy ministry wherein she uplifts Godly principles through comedy and occasionally tells her “storm” story and how she, with God’s help, was able to overcome and claim victory.  Several  newspapers wrote articles about her and one newspaper appropriately entitled her ministry “Travelin’ Light” (because she laid her burdens down).

Her favorite scriptures are:

Romans 8:28 – All things (not many things, not a few things, not some things, but all things) work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.

Psalm 23 – (paraphrased) As long as I allow the Lord to be my Shepherd, I shall not want for anything that I need.

She is a member, board member or officer of the following organizations/ministries:

  • Board Member – Livingston Parish Council on Aging
  • Teacher – Youth Academy of Denham Springs
  • President – Church Women United
  • Member – Louisiana Women in Ministry (LAWIM)

Pastor Saizon knows that God has a plan for her life and even though she may not understand all of His ways, she truly knows and believes that FATHER KNOWS BEST!
